RUNmax Pro Weighted Vest Review

What We Like

  • Lifetime warranty
  • Wide range of weight placements
  • Easy to adjust

What We Don’t Like

  • “60lb vest” is only 50lbs
  • Shoulder pads a separate option
  • Not ideal for bigger builds

Material

The RUNMax Pro Weighted Vest is made from a breathable mesh material and neoprene padding. It’s easy to tell that the materials are commercial-grade and high-quality. The user gets a sense that the vest will last a long time and doesn’t need to be babied whenever it’s picked up and put on.

The mesh and paddings are very comfortable, and the straps – made with quality Velcro – will hold the vest in place securely every time.

Comfort

In weight training, comfort, and the way equipment is engineered come to the fore, so users are encouraged to keep going. The RUNmax Pro Weighted Vest is made with a good sense of balance, never putting too much strain on one part of the body and too little in another place. It is well-suited for heavier weights because the Velcro is of such high quality that the vest feels even more secure as weights and more movements are introduced to a workout.

Quality

The makers of the RUNmax Pro Weighted Vest are so confident in its quality that they offer a manufacturer’s warranty for the first year of use. When a defect is found anywhere in the vest, no matter how slight, the vest will be replaced with no questions asked.

RUNmax also is confident that the vest will last a long time. Every purchase is covered with a lifetime warranty, showing the company will stand behind its products.

Weight Capacity

The RUNmax Pro Weighted Vest can be purchased with the following weight options:

  • 12lbs
  • 20lbs
  • 40lbs
  • 50lbs
  • 60lbs

The weight option will be up to the customer to select. There is also an option to add shoulder pads. The vest distributes weight equally in the front, back, and sides, although it may not properly fit larger body types.

Design / Features

Even though the RUNmax Pro Weighted Vest is made mainly for average to above-average builds, it is versatile, lending itself to a vast combination of weights on its front, back, and sides. It comes highly recommended for CrossFit training and other intensive workouts, helping even first-time users lose weight and increase the lightness in their step.

The vest is available in only one size, but it will easily fit most people. Women can enjoy this vest just as well as men.

Value

The RUNmax Pro Weighted Vest is a mid-priced product. It has become popular among the CrossFit crowd for being the centerpiece of one of their hardest workouts: The Murph. That is a testament to its durability and versatility, and, in our opinion, that makes this vest worth every cent.

The shoulder pads are a separate purchase with some retailers, so that’s something to watch out for. The vest’s extra features – like the water bottle holder and the phone pocket – come automatically with every purchase.

How Does It Compare?

CAP Weight Vest

The RUNmax Pro Weight Vest is a more cost-effective vest than the CAP version.

The RUNmax Pro Weight Vest is a more cost-effective vest than the CAP version.

Like the CAP product, the RUNmax Pro’s weight is adjustable, however the weight range is between 12-60lb, compared to the CAP vest, which can go up to 150lb.

Both vests use iron shot as their weight material.

Finally, the RUNmax vest is made from nylon, while the CAP vest is a nylon / polyester blend with neoprene padding.

Aduro Sport Weighted Vest

Aduro Sport Weighted Vest

The Aduro Sport Weighted Vest is made of Neoprene. Though it is non-abrasive and skin friendly, the MIR Air Flow’s cotton blend is easier to clean.

When it comes to maximum weight, the MIR has it better at 60lbs, compared to the 25lbs of the Aduro vest. Aside from that, the Aduro vest does not have an option to remove and add weights making it less versatile than the MIR Air flow.

On a different note, the Aduro Sport has a lower starting weight range make it more beginner friendly. It is also more budget friendly compared to the MIR Air Flow.

MIR Weighted Vest

The RUNmax Pro Weight Vest usually has a small price advantage over the MIR Air Flow version, though prices do change.

Both the RUNmax Pro and the MIR vest are adjustable, in terms of how heavy they are. You do have to specify the maximum weight you want when you order the vest though – you can’t order a smaller-capacity vest then buy extra weights at a later date.

The RUNmax vest’s weight range is between 12-60lbs, while the MIR vest is available in various weight configurations from 20-60lbs.

Both vests use iron shot as their weight material.

Finally, the RUNmax vest is made from nylon, while MIR use a proprietary cotton blend material.

ZFOsports Weighted Vest

ZFOsports Weighted Vest

The ZFOsports Weighted Vest has a higher maximum weight of 80lbs compared to the 60lbs of the MIR Air Flow. With both vests, you have to specify the maximum weight of the vest when you buy it – you can’t add weights to a 40lb vest after purchase.

The ZFOsports has more design features, such as a phone pocket and a water bottle holder.

Lastly, when it comes to the price, the ZFOsports is generally cheaper than the MIR Air Flow vest.
